Technical Writer (temporary)

The Technical Writer effectively writes technical manuals and bulletins, FRU identifications and other related required documentation. The Technical Writer also oversees writing, editing, updating and authenticating technical and promotional marketing materials for all products and services. The Technical Writer ensures documentation meets all standards and/or industry requirements. The position writes and reviews technical input and documentation for both new and sustaining product development. The Technical Writer provides expertise in understanding technical language and translating those specifications into product manuals or guides that will aid the user.

Here is what you will do day-to-day
Write technical materials including but not limited to: equipment manuals, product guides, service manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, bulletins, FRU identifications, and other Marketing communication, as assigned.
Translate complex technical content into clear, concise, easily readable text or tables, charts, and graphics for user-oriented language.
Determine formats and general design of information. Ensure all published documents meet company’ s graphic standards and are in compliance.
Maintain current technical product knowledge for new and existing products.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all the different product’ s materials. Meet with technical experts across functions, gather the data and translate technical information into communication for customers to understand the servicing, and the use of the product whether for basic or more advanced operation of the equipment.
Analyze existing content to determine need for revisions in previously published materials.
Work collaboratively across all functions to support project needs. Participate in team meetings within the department or across functions as required and necessary.
Develop and ensure timely execution of the publication plan in collaboration with R&D Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, and other entities.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory agency requirements and other applicable standards and regulations for labeling and publications.
Support Technical Services by developing and refining Instant Support Knowledge base FAQs and solutions as needed.
Ensure company’ s website is up-to-date on all technical specifications for all products.
Train and instruct other members of the department and the company, by passing along skills and information to assist them in their development and advancement either with one-on-one or with platform training skills.
Perform as an independent employee who is able to analyze problems and formulate plans to overcome challenges and to get work done quickly with a high degree of quality. Make sound and logical decisions, and choose the appropriate courses of action based on the parameters of the situation at hand while incorporating continual improvement problem solving skills.
Continue to improve the Company and the Marketing department through personal action and by contributing ideas to support both the Department and Company’ s ongoing improvement efforts.

Understand, follow and support internal Quality System policies, procedures and work instructions including but not limited to applicable external regulations (21 Code of Federal Regulations Part 820 Quality System Regulations and applicable International Standards).
What you will need to be successful in this role:
Requires 1-2 years of related experience. Bachelor’ s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to decipher and translate highly technical information and simplify for targeted users; skilled at organizing information into a clear, concise written form.
Ability to clearly and effectively express oneself through written means; exceptional written communication, including the ability to properly use such technical factors as grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, correct spelling, and expository writing. To be able to prepare business letters, memorandums, and reports. In addition have a strong working knowledge of editing and proofreading. Ability to translate technical and complex information.
Proficiency with the Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, FrameMaker or windows based software. Ability to manage technical documentation from AutoCAD, Instant Support Knowledge, Solid Edge or Solid Works to 3DVIA Composer or equivalent software tools.
Experience in a Quality Control environment; knowledge of ISO standards.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic functions, create and reconcile reports, and demonstrate strong analytical skills.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment; and with a strong sense of urgency.
Detail oriented with the ability to learn new concepts and apply them quickly.
Excellent customer focus with a high sense of urgency. Ability to provide excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to clearly express oneself verbally in the English language (additional languages also preferred) using good grammar, vocabulary, eye contact, and friendly voice inflection with all employees. Ability to communicate effectively with employees and other business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
Ability to function calmly in a fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities simultaneously. Must be able to positively manage situations of a dynamic nature, modify plans, actions, and decisions in light of changing situations and circumstances while still meeting, or proposing modified, deadlines.
