Statistical Genetics/Data Scientist

Summary of Responsibilities:
  • As part of the Cancer Immunology (CI) & Human Genetics research departments, this person will work in close collaboration with scientists using state-of-the-art bioinformatics and biostatistics tools and methods.
  • The focus of this position is the analysis of genetic immunogenetic data (HLA alleles, KIR types) to establish statistical associations with outcome and safety phenotypes in patient cohorts from cancer immunotherapy clinical trials.
  • Statistical association analyses of large human genetic data sets from cancer immunotherapy trials, with a focus on immunogenetic variation (e.g. HLA and KIR variation)
  • Analysis of next generation sequencing data (Illumina, Oxford Nanopore)
  • Contribution to the human genetics QC and analysis pipelines
  • Collaboration with experimental, clinical and bioinformatics scientists to inform the design and focus of statistical data analysis projects
  • Visualization of genetic data and association results

Summary of Qualifications:
  • PhD required in relevant field- no industry experience required. PhD in human genetics, statistics, or data science is nice to have.
  • Ability to successfully work as a member of cross-functional teams that contribute to drug and biomarker discovery and development
  • Experienced in using commonly used human genetics and bioinformatics software tools such as Plink, VCFtools, etc.
  • Comfortable writing and understanding code in languages such as R or Python for bioinformatics analysis
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Previous experience working with immunogenetics data sets and basic knowledge in immunology and/or cancer biology would be beneficial
