Senior Director, Program Management

Menlo Park, CA

The Senior Director of Project and Portfolio Management will report into the Vice President, Program Management and Strategy.

The Senior Director of Project and Portfolio Management will work closely with the heads of the preclinical, clinical, regulatory, and operations department in a matrix team environment to develop concise strategic development proposals and manage and track key project deliverables.

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Leads cross functional program team(s)
  • Works cross functionally to develop clear and concise program strategies
  • Maintains project tracking, risk management and risk mitigation tools
  • Develops, tracks and maintains project development timelines, deliverables and milestones including working closely with multiple team members to execute study start up activities through to data generation and ultimately manage regulatory submission timelines for regulatory review of NDA/BLA and potential advisory committees.
  • Schedules, leads and manages project team and potential sub-team meetings with agendas and minutes
  • Potentially can expand into Alliance Management should an asset be partnered during its development
  • Mentor other team members and project managers across the organization
  • Participates in ongoing enhancements and development of team processes, structures, and tools

Position Requirements and Experience:
  • BS required; Masters Degree Preferred
  • 15+ years of project management, with at least 5 years of clinical drug development experience
  • CRO health-related consulting company, or biomedical/clinical experience within academia (or a combination of fore mentioned also accepted.
  • Gene therapy and/or rare disease experience preferred.
  • Ability to proactively anticipates risks/issues and solve problems
  • Ability to drive decision-making within a multi-disciplinary, multi-regional, matrix team
  • Diplomacy and positive influencing abilities?
  • Therapeutic area knowledge relevant to mechanism of action
  • Understanding of Global Regulatory requirements
