Scientist/Senior Scientist, Pharmaceutical Development

We are currently seeking a qualified, highly motivated, experienced individual for the position of Scientist/Sr Scientist, Pharmaceutical Development who will work  closely with and report directly to the Executive Director, Pharmaceutical Development. This individual will be responsible for managing several projects, while coordinating and ensuring timely and quality execution of the department’ s strategy and missions. This individual will support the ED in organizing and aligning strategic priorities with members of the department’ s senior staff and help to manage internal and external communications involving the department. The successful candidate must have strong scientific background, strategic acumen, be proactive, and must have the ability to balance multiple projects.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the ED to manage the department goals, objectives, timelines and budgets
  • Ease decision making by providing full information from cross functional sources and by serving as a reliable, trusted and fair channel for all stakeholders
  • Strategic oversight of all departmental operations
  • Supervise department’ s project managers (Preclinical)
  • Coordinate strategic meetings, documentation and deliverables
  • Manage and participate in the drafting and review of manuscripts and presentations
  • Experience working with budgets across multiple teams
  • Work closely with Finance, Accounting, and Legal to ensuring seamless communication with the Pharmaceutical Department
  • Help establish and manage external collaborations

Position Skills:
  • PhD in Biology or related discipline (Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, etc.) and 10 years of Research and Research Operations and/or Project Management experience
  • Knowledge and experience of drug development process, with emphasis on preclinical early development activities (IND-enabling; pharmacology, toxicology, manufacturing) and transition into the clinic
  • Strategic thinker with effective and proactive leadership skills
  • Knowledgeable in gene therapy, AAV vectors, alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, macular degeneration and/or rare diseases
  • Able to speak internally or externally on behalf of the ED
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with various audiences. Highly credible, self-motivated, collaborative, and resourceful style with the ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Extremely reliable and trustworthy with the ability to handle confidential matters and sensitive information or situations with discretion
  • Commitment to integrity and transparency at all levels of the organization
  • Strong PowerPoint skills and expertise preparing informative materials
