Summary of Responsibilities:
  • This is an entry-level Hazardous Waste Technician - This position will work in consolidating bio-waste and hazardous waste from Client’ s Santa Clara Research and Development Laboratories and production facilities for pickup by respective vendors
  • Organize waste pick up with respective waste vendors.
  • Inspect and re-stock first aid cabinets and inspect AEDs.
  • Perform and document weekly required inspections of satellite waste areas and waste storage areas.
  • Perform and document monthly inspections of fire extinguishers, safety showers, eyewash stations and exit signs.
  • Perform inspections for spills and storm water compliance.
  • Be a part of emergency response team and assist in spill response.
  • Inspect and restock spill kits
  • Implement chemical scan in/out process for chemical inventory and perform annual physical chemical inventory checks.
  • Assist Safety, Health and Environment department in other activities.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum High School diploma
  • 1+ years of environmentally related experience
  • 40-hr Hazwoper
  • Knowledge of chemicals and hazardous materials
  • Capable of wearing a respirator
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs and moving 55 gal drums using a drum carrier/dolly
