Summary of Responsibilities:

Discovery Chemistry is looking for an experienced organic/medicinal chemist who will:
  • Provide general outsourcing support on the synthesis of organic compounds at the contract research organizations (CROs)
  • Manage all aspects of outsourcing activities and operations (quotation, PO, invoice and payment);
  • Interface between the contract research organizations (CROs) and internal chemists;
  • Manage, track, monitor, and report performance on CRO’ s science, operations, quality, cost, and customer service. 
  • Manage the activities and business aspects of the contract relationships with CROs
  • Partner with chemists to ensure CRO compliance to company quality standards, expectations and regulations and to resolve technical issues in a timely, accurate and effective manner.
  • Provide proactive administrative support to Discovery Chemistry Outsourcing team (contracts with CROs, CDA/SOW, due diligence activities at CROs/business trips, Customs clearance, face meetings at CROs and travel arrangements, CRO visits, etc)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve business, operations, and quality objectives.
  • Assist in the development of new outsourcing strategies, evaluation/selection, implementation, and management of CROs;
  • In addition, the responsibilities may also involve the structural elucidation/analysis, characterization and quality control of organic compounds by NMR, HPLC, LC-MS and other analytical methods.  You may also involve with CROs in solving synthetic chemistry problems.

Summary of Qualifications:
  • MS/PhD degree in organic chemistry with 3-5 years of medicinal chemistry experience in drug discovery industry.
  • Excellent experience and strong capability in solving synthetic organic chemistry problems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills are essential.
  • Outstanding project management skills and solid track record in process improvement.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to develop effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, CROs, and cross-functional, cross-cultural teams
  • Strong quality orientation with attention to details, accuracy and timelines.
  • Familiarity with operational excellence and business process management
  • Exceptional communication skills (ability to communicate effectively to many levels and functions)
  • Strong track record of collaboration, and relationship management
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and improve business processes
