Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Manufacturing Bioprocess Technician (QC Analyst Interim) is responsible for sampling, testing and release of Utilities Systems and process spaces in Vacaville operations.  This position may include interfacing with highly automated production systems and controls, and maintaining areas in a high state of inspection preparedness.
  • Participate in sample collection
  • Perform assays/laboratory maintenance functions
  • Order and maintain lab supply inventory
  • Perform data verification
  • Identify assay anomalies
  • Initiate discrepancies
  • Understand theory of assays; use SOPs, validation protocols, specifications, trends, expertise to propose solutions to assay issues, and understanding of manufacturing documentation.
  • Identify problems and propose solutions to systems, procedures and training materials
  • Understand/knowledge of QCM systems
  • Good understanding of global systems and GMP Compliance and safety requirements and regulations.
  • Within the Cell Culture Manufacturing department, take an active role in the production of mammalian cell-based products by cleaning, sterilizing and operating fixed vessel systems for media preparation and cell culture fermentation operations.
  • Interfacing with highly automated production systems and controls.
  • Assist in preparing for internal and external inspections by ensuring Laboratory is inspection ready at all times.
  • Any other duties as assigned by management.

Summary of Qualifications:
  • B.S./B.A. degree (preferably in relevant scientific discipline) or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 0-3 years’ experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of scientific theories, principles, and techniques used in analytical or biological test procedures.
  • Capable of completing assigned responsibilities and keeping manager informed of status.
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, reasoning and problem solving with general guidance
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to organize and present information both formally and informally.  Good interpersonal and team skills
  • Strong focus on quality and attention to detail.
  • Position may involve use of reagents and other chemical compounds, including but not limited to acetonitrile, chlorine, acids and bases, biologic toxins, microorganisms and potent compound.
  • Familiarity with computer-based systems is desirable.

  • Must be able to pass visual acuity and color discrimination test.
  • Able to lift 40 lbs
  • Ability to work 8, 10, or 12 hour shifts which may include off-shift, weekends and holidays, and overtime as needed.
