Bioinformatics Associate (Proteomic Analyst)

Summary of Responsibilities:    
  • The Human Genetics (HG) group is looking to engage a contractor with a computational and statistical genetics background to prototype and implement statistical methods and pipelines that deliver cutting edge analysis of large-scale genetic and proteomic datasets (thousands of proteins for tens of thousands of individuals).
  • This work would be carried out under the supervision of Scientists from HG and bioinformatics.
  • These analyses would include identification and fine-mapping of cis- and trans-pQTLs, causal inference (eg Mendelian randomization), and integration with RNA expression data sets.
  • This position would be available for a year and can be held remotely

Summary of Qualifications:
  • Applicants should have completed a PhD in Computational Biology, Human Genetics, Computer Science, or related fields. Additional postdoctoral experience a major plus.
  • The candidate should have experience programming in UNIX, bash/other scripting languages & R/python.
  • They should have a detailed understanding of human genetics and/or genomics, and experience handling and analyzing genome-scale data.
  • The contractor should have experience working with high performance computing and be able to produce high-quality output with minimal supervision.
  • Experience working with RNA and/or protein data, and in causal inference methods would be a strong plus.
