Process Development Sr. Associate Scientist

Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Perform and supervise others in performing, laboratory-based analytical testing, or studies in support of Analytical Development studies and QC/Manufacturing investigations, for assay improvement, development and qualification studies. 
  • Execute action plans in support of departmental objectives independently or as part of a team.
  • Execute and supervise/mentor others in laboratory-based analytical testing and analysis of results.
  • Author procedures and technical reports.
  • Communicate technical data to project teams.
  • Initiate solutions to technical problems and initiate projects to improve operations of lab (throughput, data quality, streamlining, troubleshooting).
  • Apply professional principles, established techniques and company’ s policies/procedures in completion of job tasks.
  • Design studies.  Lead assay improvement, development and qualification projects
  • Supervise junior staff in the execution of experiments, experimental design and technical report writing.
  • Independently design and execute single experiments in the context of larger projects.
  • Maintain laboratory facilities and equipment in accordance with company policies and industrial best practices. 
  • Provide support for research and developmental studies, clinical or commercial manufacturing as needed.
  • Possess organizational skills with the ability to prioritize personal tasks to meet deadlines and work with a team to achieve goals.
  • Possess strong written/oral communication skills.
  • Assist in laboratory scheduling, data organization and deployment of personnel and equipment for maximal efficiency.

Required Qualifications:
  • Educational degree must be relevant to position (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry). PhD or Master’ s degree with 2 or more years of experience or Bachelor’ s degree with 6 or more years of experience.
  • Proficient with the use of MS Office software.   Statistical software (JMP, Minitab) knowledge is a plus
  • Demonstrate knowledge in area of specialization, including a strong understanding of protein biochemistry and principals behind analytical assays.
  • Take initiative to remain current in area of expertise.
