Formulations Associate I

Summary of Responsibilities:
  • The Formulation Associate will assist in the preparation and testing of biologic formulations. Activities will include molecule pre formulation characterization and formulation development studies including routine and semi-routine laboratory activities under direct supervision.
  • The assistant will be trained to institute drug compatibility and stability studies and perform assigned assays to characterize drug substances and formulations.
  • Testing may include but is not limited to pH measurement, HPLC, TGA, DSC, solubility, microscopy, size exclusion chromatography, rheometry, capillary electrophoresis, florescence, UV and CD spectroscopy and osmolarity.
  • Experience with these techniques is preferred, but not required.
  • The assistant will also be expected to maintain laboratory equipment and organize excipient inventory.
  • He/she will be trained to set up, maintain and calibrate equipment and instrumentation to support project as needed.
  • The incumbent will be responsible for the timely completion of assignments, assisting with troubleshooting, data summarization and reporting, and effective communication of research findings.
  • Good record keeping, organizational, written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Required Qualifications:
  • B.S./B.A. in a science related discipline with 0 - 2 years of relevant industrial experience.  Training in chemistry, particularly protein chemistry is preferred. 
  • 1-2 years of wet lab experience is required for this position. 
  • Experience with above identified laboratory techniques is preferred, but not required. 
  • Good record keeping, organizational, written and verbal communication skills are essential.
