Bioinformatics Research Associate

As a member of the BioChemBioInfo group, you will play a role in analyzing data for application demonstrations and development of the next generation of processes for the high throughput analysis of genomic DNA. The successful candidate should have a keen desire to dig into vast data sets, be open to working with new methods of data analysis and work well in a team environment.  This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a talented and dynamic team working on novel approaches to understanding human biology and disease

Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Analyze large data sets and help write reports on those analyses. 
  • Run applications and participate in data analysis.
  • Support other scientists including performing the analysis, interpretation of results, creation of written reports, and the communication of findings back to scientists.
  • Provide written documentation and reports.
  • Maintain a highly active and motivated culture.
  • Interact and collaborate with members of other groups.
  • Perform other work related duties as assigned.

Summary of Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree in Bioinformatics or related fields; recent graduate within one year. 
  • Experience with Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data analysis pertaining to assembly and variant calling.
  • Skills of writing scripts in Unix/Linux environment.
  • Ability to program in Pearl or Python.
  • Proficiency in basic Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Able to execute complex analyses in a timely manner.
